2. International Cooperation Status

Professor Dusan Losic, professor of chemical engineering at the university of Adelaide in Australia, was hired as a visiting professor at chongqing university. He have worked closely with professor yuxin zhang's group for 5 years to conduct basic research on the development of functional materials based on graphene and diatomite. until now, we have cooperatively published 6 high-level papers.

Technical Requirements Summary:

1. Importance and necessity of requested project, and relations with key projects and industries of Chongqing .

In traditional industry, diatomite is widely used in industrial water treatment and adsorption of pollutants (heavy metals and dye wastewater), construction paint filler, etc., however the researches on high-value diatomite products are less. A template synthetic approach is normally used to enhance the morphologies of the diatomite and increase their properties by their conversion into metallic, metal oxide, semi-conductive and polymer structures. However, the key technology for high value researches of diatomite is monopolized and blocked in abroad. On the other hand, the basic research of diatomite materials was ignored in domestic because of pursuing of short-term economic interests, which resulted in serious losses, as such market chaos, frequent leukemia cases, and so on. In order to fundamentally solve these problems, it is necessary to optimize the structure, break the technology blockade,  constantly improve the value level application of diatomite, rapidly promote the development of the novel diatomite material with our own the original innovation.

2. Technology breakthroughs and innovations of requested project

1. Research on building the relationship between the interface of Si - O atoms relations and crystal configuration changes by the dynamic simulation calculation to prepare well-controlled nanostructure modified diatomite composites.

2. Research on establishing the relationship between structure and catalytic performance of the nanostructure modified diatomite composites through characterization of surface structure and the distribution of nanopores, which could further reveal the mechanism of the catalytic performance from atomic scale interface and crystal structure.
