Basic Information:

1. General Information of Requester

Chongqing University in the field of metallurgy and machinery manufacturing has been in the leading level, with the State Key Laboratory of Mechanical Transmission. The laboratory carries out basic research and key technology research for satisfying national defense and national economic construction of mechanical transmission and system of major needs; through high-level scientific research, high-level personnel training and extensive international cooperation. In the field of mechanical transmission, laboratory mainly relies on national key disciplines of mechanical engineering, material science, mechanics and other cross-disciplines. There are six research institutes in the laboratory, which have strong scientific research strength.

2. International Cooperation Status

Our team has long-term and stable collaborations with Prof. Liaw’s group in the University of Tennessee. In many international conferences, we have further application to the High Entropy Alloys. Combining the strengths of our two laboratories will provide new insights into the research of high-entropy alloys in the aerospace field.

Technical Requirements Summary:

1. Importance and necessity of requested project, and relations with key projects and industries of Chongqing .

During the country's "13th Five-Year" strategy, the weak manufacture engineering is still the key point to restrict the development of China's industry. Chongqing is an important machinery industrial base in the southwest of China. The proportion of the total industrial output value of automobiles and equipment manufacturing industries reaches 56%. In the next five years, Chongqing will invest 2.25 trillion yuan in infrastructure such as railways, aviation and shipping and will build a new cluster of strategic enterprises in Chongqing such as high-end transport equipment and new composite materials.

In recent years, due to the development of deep space exploration technology, supersonic aircraft and high-speed train technology, more requirements of high-quality metal have been put on the service conditions of mechanical components. High-entropy alloy is widely used in aerospace, railways, deep space exploration and other fields because of its excellent performance in light weight, high strength, high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance. Based on the regional technological innovation and economic development, this project is in line with the strategic needs of "national western development" and meets the needs of major national development strategies.

2. Technology breakthroughs and innovations of requested project

(1) The introduction of high-entropy alloy advanced design, manufacturing equipment and related analysis and testing systems of software and hardware package

(2) Design and manufacture of high-temperature, corrosion-resistant, high-strength high-entropy alloy samples and fatigue testing

(3) Achievements transformation, mass production and the application of high-entropy alloy parts in the field of aerospace to promote China's high quality metals in aerospace and deep space exploration.
